[ As he approaches the nearest elevator, he presses the button firmly and steps back, waiting for the lift to appear from wherever the fuck it is in this enormous building.

( unfortunately for both of them, damian hasn't quite had the breakdown that led to him capturing villains and attempting to erase their memory and send them on their way to being better people, because arkham was getting them nowhere with rehabilitating them.

Are you sure he couldn't break out? He may have been choosing to stay in one for strategic purposes.

[ Granted… Thawne has always prioritised taunting him over anything else. Did he know how to break out? It's unfortunate Barry isn't from a few years from now where he knows he, Barry, can break out of the pipeline. ]

If he did, he'd gloat. This Thawne loves [ (derogatory emphasis) ] to gloat about how much he knows and how little I do. I think it's his one other skill aside from being obnoxious.

[ The elevator stops and groans, and the doors silently open. Barry gestures for Damian to go in first. Guests before, well… whatever Barry is tot his place! ]

( guests first is an excellent way to entrap a guest. luckily, damian doesn't anticipate barry to have a plan to trick him into walking into a trap. he's smarter than that: damian had time to tell others where he was going had he wanted to, which would make catching him here a terrible idea.

[ He doesn't mean any offence by his incredulous laugh. Barry automatically hits the button to indicate some top floor without even looking, focusing on Damian. ]

[ The elevator doors close. ]

( which clearly means he's better. but that's not the point he's getting at. damian turns to look to barry, brows furrowed. )

Eobard Thawne is a genius. Your cells are made to keep metahumans within them, not those with an aptitude for getting out of difficult spaces.
